How does a humanistic and integrative counsellor work?
A humanistic counsellor works alongside you as you identify obstacles or talk through struggles you are experiencing. It can be hard to talk about difficult thoughts and allow feelings to surface. Therefore, the counsellor creates a safe, comfortable space in which you can work through your troubles. The humanistic counsellor will encourage self-development and empower you to make choices to help you move forward in life. The humanistic counsellor aims to be honest, empathic and non-judgmental. The “integrative” part recognizes that one size does not fit all. There are many different approaches to counselling that enhance the humanistic method. The integrative counsellor draws on those resources to help each client move towards better mental health.

My approach
At times, we all face up-hill struggles and distress in life. It takes courage to talk, but it helps. I provide you with time and a safe place to unpack those struggles and the often-uncomfortable emotions that accompany them so that you can take steps forward, more confidently and safely.
I work in a person-centred way and incorporate other approaches as the need arises. A person-centred approach means that the session is led by you and what you what to discuss. Together we explore your emerging issues, behaviours, and emotions, equipping you for your onward journey.
